Ashok L. Gowda, M.D., is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder & elbow, upper and lower extremity sports medicine, and hand surgery.

Dr. Gowda grew up in Michigan and graduated with a double major from the combined accelerated medical program at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at New York Medical College. He then completed a Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital, continually ranked among the best in the nation for orthopaedics by U.S. News and World Report.

He subsequently was granted a scholarship for an AO Fellowship to complete additional training in hand surgery at the highly respected R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

While in fellowship Dr. Gowda assisted in caring for the Detroit Lions, Oakland University Athletics including a Division I basketball and soccer team, and local high school football teams.

He has authored over twenty scientific peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and local or national presentations. He has served as a lab instructor for orthopaedic surgeons in training, has contributed health-related articles to local newspapers, and has served as a medical journal reviewer. Additionally, he enjoys volunteering and has worked with various causes including health care screenings in New York City and hand surgery in Honduras.

In his free time Dr. Gowda enjoys traveling, running, skiing, sailing, golf, theology/history, photography and spending time with his family.

Clinical Interests

• Treatment, repair, and reconstruction of shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle tendon, ligament, cartilage, or bone conditions (acute or chronic; arthroscopic or open).
• Treatment of hand, wrist, and forearm conditions (acute or chronic; arthroscopic or open).
• Management of shoulder and elbow arthritis (shoulder arthroscopic debridement, partial shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, reverse shoulder arthroplasty, revision shoulder arthroplasty, elbow arthroscopic debridement, elbow interposition arthroplasty, total elbow arthroplasty).
• Treatment of adult and pediatric fractures of the upper and lower extremity.

Dr. Gobind Sahi is a dual board certified, fellowship trained, musculoskeletal sports medicine physician with a strong academic and clinical background.

While an Assistant Professor at George Washington University, Dr. Sahi trained medical students, residents, and fellows, served as a team physician for GW student athletes, and covered various races and events including the Army 10-miler, Marine Corps Marathon, and A10 Basketball tournament.

While at GW, Dr. Sahi also developed a new ACGME-Approved Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and served as its program director.

Dr. Sahi has extensive experience in concussion diagnosis and management, bone, ligament, tendon, and cartilage injuries of the shoulders, knees, upper and lower extremities, spine and neck, and sports nutrition and physicals.

Dr. Sahi utilizes ultrasound guidance to safely and effectively to perform a variety of interventions including intra-articular cortisone injections, biologic/hyaluronic acid injections, and trigger point injections. He is proficient in diagnosing and treating non-operative fractures.

Dr. Sahi grew up in Pittsburgh and Minneapolis. He studied Biology and Psychology at the University of Minnesota. He attended medical school at the American University of Antigua. He returned to the University of Minnesota for his Family Medicine Residency and served as Chief Resident. He completed his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at St. Luke’s University in Bethlehem, PA where he served as team physician for various area high schools and colleges. Dr. Sahi is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.

In his free time Dr. Sahi enjoys spending time with his family, weight-training, yoga, cooking/culinary adventures, traveling, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
